Extra Day in Winnipeg
October Programs
If your Extra Day in Winnipeg program occurs during the month of October, we will visit Fort Whyte Alive in addition to the guided museum and city bus tours. At this 640-acre nature reserve located just outside the city, we’ll learn about northern prairie, aspen forest and marsh environments, with a special focus on bison and birds. Joined by a local guide, we travel into the park’s Bison Prairie for a close-up encounter with these huge beasts and learn about how they have shaped Manitoba’s history. Our nature immersion continues with a guided interpretive walk through a wetland where we’ll see Canada geese, mallards and other migrating birds, followed by a visit to see endangered burrowing owls, a very charming species.
