Northern Lights of Churchill

Churchill, Canada

Trip Overview

Northern Lights Eric RockThe small town of Churchill holds mysteries that attract curious scientists and adventurers from around the world. From the same land that is home to the brief, brilliant summer of beluga whales and wildflowers, to the legendary polar bears of autumn, come the ethereal northern lights.

Aurora Borealis means “dawn of the north,” and due to its position beneath the Van Allen belt, Churchill has one of the heaviest concentrations of Aurora Borealis activity in the world.

And our nights with the potential for the best aurora activity on the planet! On this northern adventure, we’ll explore the facts and native fables surrounding this miracle of nature, as well as the intriguing cultures and wildlife they illuminate.
