While the giant males gather on the western shores of the bay, mothers and cubs tend to congregate in areas where they are protected from the dominant adult males. On these exclusive itineraries, we complement our tundra trips, where we view polar bears, Arctic fox, Arctic hare and other northern wildlife from our tundra buggies, with an exploration of Churchill and its rich culture. This trip is particularly exciting as we now offer an optional helicopter journey to the female bears’ denning area where we can, remarkably, have the chance to crawl inside an unoccupied polar bear den. A very important feature of our polar bear trips is the limited group size. Nature is always best experienced in smaller groups, and it is particularly important on this trip so our guests have plenty of room on board the tundra vehilces.
Easy / Flexible
This trip requires little to no walking, though optional hikes may be available. Tundra buggies can sometimes offer a bumpy ride.
